Magical Dronten,

The artwork Magical Dronten depicts the origins of the polder (water and drainage), the present of the villages Dronten, Biddinghuizen and Swifterbant (iconic buildings and monuments) and the future (the mirror). Sustainability (recycled materials) was paramount in the design and realization. The entire artwork is enlivened with characteristic symbols of the Municipality of Dronten (yellow tulips, water and spaciousness).Episode 1: Introduction and concept about the art work.

In the art work I’m using diffrent types of recycled materials this one is made from 100% post-consumer plastic used packaging.&#38;nbsp;
This art work was in cooperation with:&#38;nbsp;Xl de Ateliers, Amstel- Delta, Pyrasied, De Mannen van Staal, Efesto, BOB belichting.&#38;nbsp;

Snakken naar Boijmans X Kunst 4 KidsKunst
 4 Kids —a vibrant, child-only exhibition to let them discover and 
interact with art on their own terms. No parents allowed! The concept is
 daring and playful: an art show tailored just for children aged 4 to 
18, giving them the freedom to explore without parents and even start up
 their very own collection.The space posed its challenges, but 
also great opportunities. The heart of the exhibition was a bold, 
circular room with purple curtains. The color was a choice that sparked 
curiosity and energy. Against the roughness of the building I chose a 
soft, flowing form that wasn’t just in the curtains—it echoed in the 
seating and even the playful entrance design. The walls were crafted 
from materials used throughout the larger exhibition, creating a 
cohesive and immersive feel.@studiothonik developed a graphic design that complemented the overall concept beautifully.For
 me, this project was a variety of roles: spatial designer, helping with
 curation and being the project manager. Bringing the vision to life, 
balancing restrictions, and focusing on how children would engage with 
the art—was a great learning experience and I loved doing it!Also thanks to all the artists (see list) that contributed to the exhibition! And to @boijmans for giving me this amazing opportunity.

I was invited by JONGEN HONDEN and the Police academy to develop a 
game centered around environmental crime—a project that immediately 
resonated with me. Environmental crime is the fastest-growing type of 
crime, and its impacts often only become visible in the long term, yet 
they play a significant role in the climate crisis. Water and land 
pollution are major issues, and the fact that these harmful practices 
generate significant profits motivated me even more to contribute to a 
solution. It was an honor to equip young police officers with knowledge 
that helps them better identify these crimes.We started the 
year with an inspiring brainstorming session alongside environmental 
officers from the field. The insights from this session, combined with 
research from the Police’s Sustainability and Environmental Safety team,
 formed the foundation for my creative translation: a spatial game that 
stimulates the senses and places knowledge from the three color-coded 
zones—blue, gray, and green—at its core. These zones represent crimes 
related to water pollution, natural pollution, and industrial pollution.I
 designed a spatial educational game that activates the senses of sight,
 hearing, and smell. By embedding real materials in epoxy, incorporating
 authentic scents, and playing sounds of environmental crimes, the game 
reaches all senses. It unfolds into a dynamic landscape featuring a 
river, a road, and an informal trail through the forest. Collaboration 
brings this landscape to life, and along the way, participants discover 
how to become more alert to the signs of environmental crime.This
 starter kit not only provides knowledge but also encourages police 
officers to act as the eyes and ears of environmental agents—an 
interactive and creative step towards a more environmental friendly

Before sunset: Rooftop bar @boijmans&#38;nbsp;Last
 summer I had the opportunity to do the production, programming and 
interior design for a pop-up rooftop bar at Het Depot of the Museum 
Boijmans van Beuningen. It was an amazing experience where I was able to
 use my own creative network to realise the project. A temporary bar 
where people could enjoy the view from the roof, listen to music from 
Rotterdam finest DJs and watch films by various filmmakers.For the interior, I combined the aesthetics of the Depot together with the often cloudy atmosphere that surrounds it.I would like to acknowledge the people who helped bring my vision together; @lara__bruggeman for making the digital art work. @samanthasejwal for making the blob cushions. @jallasinn and @whytimmy for the technical production. @loeskorten for helping with programming. Wind Wervel an artistic research project, (2023)

We are Dennis (@dennisvantilburgmusic) and Iris, multidisciplinary makers specializing in sound and spatial design. We have immersed ourselves in the landscape of Flevoland. To us, the wind turbines quite literally stand out — Flevoland is the province with the most windmills in the Netherlands, and they have become iconic features of its landscape.


This summer, we presented our research through a spatial map and a drawn mab of Flevoland, filled with our discoveries, insights, and ideas surrounding the future of Windmills. 
The central concept I created was to create a tiny house windmill park — a place where aging wind turbines, which will eventually reach the end of their operational lives, can "retire" and be transformed into homes for people in Flevoland.

#Overexposed
I researched the effects of ‘Technological sadness’ in my surroundings. Technological Sadness is a new emotion that appeared when we started using social technologies to communicate, which describes the negative effects of smartphones and what effect social media has on our everyday emotions. I focused mainly on the Instagram platform, and my research uncovered how dependent we have become on it and the negative effects we are experiencing through oversharing our lives on social media platforms. 
I wanted to create work that would show the dangers of the online lives we are living. Through experiments and interviews, I discovered that capturing moments with our mobile devices is very important to us, as most digital natives are using them to create memories and share our experiences with others. We are starting to use our phones as digital diaries, by for example using the function stories that tempts users to post 24/7. During my research, I found out about ‘The photo impairment effect’, that describes how the more photos and videos we take with our smartphones the less we remember. The problem is that our phone is becoming our external memory and we are offloading our own memories onto the device. This news was so thought-provoking that I thought it was a story that needed to be told. 
In our constant urge to capture everything around us, we often remove ourselves from the moment. We're so focused on preserving memories that we forget to truly live them. This obsession with documenting life especially through our smartphone leads to something paradoxical: the more we record, the less we remember.


To explore this phenomenon, I created an interactive installation: a unique photo booth that confronts visitors with the consequences of our compulsive photo-taking habits. Inside the booth, a photo is taken using a smartphone, triggering a narrative that introduces the concept of the Photo Impairment Effect the idea that photographing experiences can actually diminish our ability to remember them.


My goal is to highlight the urgency of this issue. With millions of photos being taken every day, we’re oversaturating our lives and, in doing so, dulling the emotional weight of real memories.


As a final gesture, each visitor receives a printed photo when they leave—but when they return home, that image gradually fades away. We are honoured to be able to design the backstage space for the Princess Maxima Center Children’s cancer hospital in Utrecht, The Netherlands. This magical room will open its doors for the hospital ‘s young patients at the end of 2022.What was first a storage space (see slides) is now a rainbow room full of vibrant colours. The space is divided into different colour themed areas. It is a space where children can completely forget where they are as we removed anything associated with an institutional look. The space really comes to life when the children enter it, as themes and colours flow throughout the spaceEach surface has a function. Blue is a photoshoot space where they can create a set and have their picture taken. Yellow is the dressing room with fun clothes and costumes. Purple is, where they can apply make-up and get ready to head to the theater next door.This has been a very special assignment for us. We hope that the children enjoy the room we have created and will forget their illnesses for a brief time.Objects that are mounted on the wall are collected from thrift shops and the light in the room is covered with recycled Plexiglas from Pyrasied acknowledging sustainable design.This room was designed by iris hagel and Floor Besuijen.

The flaw Collection

In every object there is a small mistake. &#38;nbsp;That is why it is called “the flaw collection”, based on imperfections. For my graduating project I studied the impct of the emotion irritation . Why do we get annoyed. What are the triggers, and how does our irritations impact ourselves and those around us? I started to make all kinds of works based on things that annoy people. At one point I started designing annoying patterns and I loved how people in my class got annoyed by all my prints. Because in every pattern there is a little flaw if you look close enough. In society today we like everything to be perfect. Missed perfection to some it may become annoying, irritating or just &#38;nbsp;plain wrong. With my collection I want to show that mistakes and imperfection can also make things more interesting.Because of the flaws &#38;nbsp;displayed in my collection, &#38;nbsp;you will need to look twice at the objects because when you see the mistake it can’t be unseen. That may annoy you , but in a world where everything has to be perfect I wanted to design things that are not.
